'The Wave of Reconstruction' (http://www.thewaveofreconstruction.com/) is web documentary project by Alessia Cerantola, Emanuele Satolli and Matteo Moretti. The project shares information about various civil groups who got together to pick up statistical details and shows victims who tells their personal stories aftermaths Fukushima tsunami disaster.
The project has been published by BBC World Service and Internazionale Magazine in March 2016.
It is also short listed and shown at DIG (Documentari Inchieste Giornalismi) Awards in Riccione, Italy. DIG Awards is an international competition dedicated to investigative journalism.
The stories of;
The tsunami museum in Ofunato, is created to collect and disseminate information on the tsunami and its consequences
Safecast initiative, which is made up of residents grouped together to build DIY Geiger counters to detect ionizing type radiation, generated by nuclear reactions
Tarachine laboratory that is created by the people who want to measure the radiation level where they live, because they have been unsatisfied with or suspicious of radiation data provided by the government and the power company TEPCO
The stories of;
the carpenter Shingo Ikenoya, who keeps the Buddhist temple in front of the ruins of the former city hall (That temple is a place where residents can come and pray for people they have lost.)
‘Hibi Shimbun’ newspaper which had became popular in the days after the tsunami, as it was written by hand on a large billboard during the days with no electricity
‘Onagawa FM’ radio that is set up immediately right after the tsunami disaster in order to broadcast the practical information and news for the refugees
The stories of;
Yasuo Takamatsu who still searches for his wife’s body in sea by scuba diving
Takayuki Ueno who is searching for his three-year old son Kotaro, who is still missing
Teuro Shirogane who has lost three members from his family and their bodies are also not found yet
